In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Scranton; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Pennsylvania are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

The business lists hours on 2 days of the week. The most common schedule is 11 AM–10:30 PM. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. woman behind counter stared at me and my friend out entire time dining we felt very verrryyyy uncomfortable. She stares and talks to other employees and jump when we go there get food as if we are up to something. With this type of treatment i wouldn’t recommend.

We went to Royal buffet as two adults and a kid. We got seated on the right side of the buffet area. The kid got the Japanese blue drink and the rest of us got waters. As a weight watchers so user, I tried to focus on proteins and vegetables with string beans, pork, flounder, general tso’s chicken until I saw my beloved crab cragoons huddled in my favorite left corner of the buffet area. This section had a mecca of fried items: fried shrimp, egg rolls, fried dough, fries, crab rangoon, etc. I got an egg roll, a piece of potato, a β€œlobster roll”, and two crab rangoons. The kid was already back at the table with a plate of fried calamari, imitation crab, and honey chicken. The attendants were friendly and cheered us in as I recorded my husband eating. Another attendant wiped down chairs at a table next to us. There was a TV to the left and right of us playing Big Bang theory. A kid was screaming off and on. One kid was swinging a lanyard in circles. Another tiny kid came close to our table a few times. My kid commented it was so loud in there. I thought it was entertaining. More people came in for their 1 second sit to claim their seats then headed to the buffet. We enjoyed the food

Great food and quick to serve drinks but there is a waitress or two who always expects a big tip. Whenever you give the specific waitress a low tip, she gives an attitude. Even to this day I dunno what her name is but I still feel like crap for it. Still good food and some of the other waitresses aren't like that

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Royal Buffet Stopped in for the buffet and was honestly impressed. Everything I tried tasted fresh and well-prepared, which isn’t always easy to find at a buffet. The seafood was the standout β€” the clams were fresh, the shrimp were perfectly cooked, and even the crawfish were flavorful and not overdone. Sushi was fresh and nicely made, and the hibachi was hot, fast, and cooked just right. Every section of the buffet was solid β€” nothing felt like filler food. Plates were constantly being refilled, food stayed hot, and the overall quality was way better than expected. If you’re in the Scranton area and want a buffet where the food actually tastes good (especially seafood), this place is absolutely worth a visit. I, Would definitely come back again.

While I believe the service could benefit from a more professional approach, particularly in terms of communication, this does not diminish the fact that this may be the best Chinese buffet I have ever experienced. The food stands out for its freshness, quality, and flavor, surpassing any other Chinese restaurant I have visited. The establishment itself was impressively clean, and parking was convenient. Overall, I am pleased we chose to dine here, as the variety of options was remarkable, ranging from soups and salads to five different types of dumplings, along with an extensive selection of meats, vegetables, and noodles.
